I had the privilege to attend for the second time the most important enotourism exhibition in Europe: FINE  #WineTourismExpo in Feria de Valladolid. Dedicated to the best proposals of wine tourism, and offering as well a very large interesting programme of conferences in Be Fine. Also I have been very happy to get back to an almost «normal» face-to-face event.
The B2B encounters gathered more than 2,200 interviews of wineries and territories with the nearly 70 tour operators and travel agencies involving 12 nationalities.Among the hundreds of enotourism proposals I want to hightlight the ones from Catalonia, where I am from, even small regions that I discovered in FINE:
Parés Baltá: it is a family winery with a long tradition of winemaking with origins stretching back to 1790, just 30 km from the Mediterranean coast and Barcelona.
They grow their vines organically, certified since 2002, and biodynamic since 2012.They have several proposals to visit the winery which include wine and cava pairings, 4×4 tours, and many tailor made proposals. You can read more about them here.Gratavinum: in the heart of Priorat we can find Gratavinum, a very particular experience as the terroir and the landscapes are truly different of most of the vineyards that you know.
They propose chocolate or cheese pairing in their Llicorella Tour driving to their most remotes vines.Torres: since five generations offering a wide range of wines and enotourism proposals. Here you can check out their wines from different wine regions in Catalonia, but also all over the world.  Their Signature Wine Experiences offers the chance for you to indulge in a truly special day out to explore their wine heritage. From strolling through ancient vineyards to gourmet wine pairings you can expect a special journey through their prestigious Familia Torres wines in unparalleled surroundings.
The most popular visits are: visit and taste of 4 wines and 4 cheeses, or 4 wines and 4 tapas. Truly popular and a great experience.
There are plenty of proposals with gastronomy in Torres, in this link you can discover more with suggestions like eating in El Celleret gastronomic restaurant or in Mas Rabell.DO Costa Daurada: the enogastronomic map of the Costa Daurada will lead you to a rich and diverse destination steeped in tradition and renewed creations. The red, white and rosé wines from the Designations of Origin Montsant, Tarragona, Conca de Barberà, Penedès and the DOQ Priorat bring to your palate all the rich tonalities of a land in which viticulture is an integral part of the culture. You can make enotourism visits with Jujol modernist buildings or with ancient Roman rests. Truly unique.
Check here the several wine routes proposals.
And here you can read my proposal of enotourism in Priorat with Hotel Hostal Sport.DO Alella: very close to Mataró, my home town. It is small wine region with 7 wine cellars to visit.
It is a cute area, nice town, close to the sea and small producers. And this just 20 kms from Barcelona.
Most of the wines are fresh and light, perfect for pairing with any meal.Enotourism proposals, besides the typical wine visit and tasting, they propose picnic amidst de vineyards, which I truly love.
They also have a partnership of visiting the vineyard plus enjoying a spa treatment with wine products in Alella Organic Spa. Really superb.DO Terra Alta: it lays on the border of the inland region of Tarragona. It also has the highest altitude, with the mountain peaks here reaching 950 meters but the vineyards are located in the foothills and on valley floors. The Ancient Romans introduced wine in the area, as their Roman road connecting Zaragoza to Tortosa passed through this region. Due to the phylloxera no wines were produced until last century. Wines were destined for local consumption, but the rise of Priorat has been a catalyst for change.
Routes
including the places where some battles of the Spanish Civil war took place, listening to the explanations of Terra Enllà whilst drinking the local wine.
And here you can read my proposal with enotourism in Priorat in the Hotel Hostal Sport.Freixenet: one of the most beautiful cava cellars in Catalonia, since 1861 in the heart of Penedés. It represents the most organised company, the word no, does not exist for them.
Freixenet organises whatever the customer needs to have a unique experience.Freixenet’s proposals are the sidest ever, as they have huge and unique venues as cellars. Perfect also for big events.
Among my favorite tastings: cava and chocolate tasting if you are a lover of sweets, this tasting will allow you to discover the world of the cocoa bean and taste some of the most original chocolates. Also several cavas pairing with Iberian hams, a truly gourmet experience.Read here my proposals of the best enotourism destinations in Spain
